Hamilton Park unveils Saints & Sinners replacement
Cash for Kids cashes in on Scotland’s most glamorous racing fixture
Hamilton Park Racecourse is delighted to announce that Cash for Kids will replace Saints & Sinners as the benefiting charity at its showcase fixture next year.
The deal which could net Cash for Kids up to £100,000 a year has been unveiled by Hamilton Park chief executive Alastair Warwick after the Saints & Sinners charity pulled out of the annual fixture, following 42 years of support from the racecourse.
Hamilton Park’s Saints & Sinners fixture had become the highlight of the horseracing social calendar with acts such as Dannii Minogue and Liberty X performing there in recent years, and Mr Warwick says that with Cash for Kids’ celebrity appeal even more glamour can be expected at next year’s event.
He said: “Our Saints & Sinners night had become a massive occasion for Scottish horseracing, the town of Hamilton and the people of South Lanarkshire, however the Saints & Sinners charity pulling out offered us a great opportunity to freshen up the event and bring to the table a bigger charity and enable us to take the event to a new level.
“Cash for Kids fits tremendously well with the social side of racing given its media profile and star-studded backing. More importantly however, we’re delighted that by putting on the best night in the horseracing calendar we can contribute a significant sum to such a worthy cause.
“It’s a West of Scotland-based charity that disburses millions of pounds in grants to underprivileged children and their families, schools, nurseries, and community-based groups – we’ll be only too pleased to add to the money they raise next year and hopefully for many years to come.”
The new deal is a one-year arrangement with a view to a five-year extension meaning the charity could benefit to the tune of half a million pounds over the course of the five years.
Paul Cooney, Radio Clyde boss and trustee of Cash for Kids, which was recently awarded a Community Service World Medal at the prestigious New York Festival Radio Awards, said: “We’re delighted that Hamilton Park has chosen us as its charity of choice for what will be an unrivalled social occasion in Scottish horseracing. The fixture is a longstanding tradition in the West of Scotland and it’s great that the Cash for Kids cause will benefit next year and hopefully for many years to come.”
The new event is a worthy addition to the charity’s other ‘must-attend’ social events which include the famous D2 Cash for Kids lunches, which have previously been attended by the likes of Lulu, Girls Aloud and McFly.
The event will take place on the evening of Wednesday 11 June next year.
