Jamie Morriarty took the riding honours when booting home a 20/1 double aboard El 13/8 favourite Coto and 7/1 chance Dark Charm. Kevin Ryan-trained El Coto was winning for the first time in over two years when landing the Philips Claiming Stakes while Dark Charm appeared late on the scene to win the featured RBS Scottish Trophy Handicap by half a length.
It was an afternoon of mixed fortune for Sophie Doyle as she was given a two-day excessive force whip ban in the second race before winning the Field And Lawn Marquees Handicap nearly two hours later on Michael Mullineaux-trained Rudry World. The winner was following up his course and distance success of seven days earlier for which he shoulder a 6lb penalty. He looks a step ahead of the handicapper and Ms Doyle has ridden him to all his four career wins.
Newmarket-based Hayley Turner was another female pilot on the mark as she rode Spritza to victory in the Ross Rating Related Maiden Stakes for her main employer Michael Bell. The well-bred evens favourite, ridden by Turner for the first time, won easing down by four-lengths and carries the colours of the Royal Ascot Racing Club.
Word Perfect, the 5/2 market leader, took the concluding Neilsland Handicap to crown an awful day for the bookies as Mick Easterby's mare was the sixth winning favourite in seven races! The Sherrif Hutton raider, partnered by Dale Gibson, is unbeaten in two visits to the Lanarkshire track and was completing an across-the-card double for her trainer, who had won the last on Carlisle's afternoon fixture with Lake Chini.

IAN SEMPLE saddled a 45-1 double supplied by The Salwick Flyer and Primo Way at Hamilton Park's Taste of the Orient night card on August 15th.
Nicky Lawes was aboard The Salwick Flyer in the Pertemps People Development 'Hands And Heels' Apprentice Handicap while Tom Eaves drove Primo Way to a narrow success in the 'One Fir Rick' Ricky Martin Memorial Claiming Stakes.
The Carluke trainer said: "I bought The Salwick Flyer off Alan Berry for three Irish boys who are new owners to me and they had a nice touch on him tonight.
"Tom Eaves produced the ride of the year to win on Primo Way and I still don't know how he managed to weave his way through and get up."
GREG FAIRLEY rode his fourth winner as a 'fully-fledged' rider when McCartney gained an impressive success in the Tarmac Ltd EBF Novice Stakes. The Hawick-born jockey partnered his final winner drawing a 3lb allowance at our Ladies Night on August 4th.
Despite drifting alarmingly in the betting out his SP of 6/4, Mark Johnston's colt won eased down by seven-lengths and holds some fancy entries later this autumn including in the Group1 Dewhurst Stakes and Racing Post Trophy.
Funfair Wane may have won two Ayr Gold Cups but he still retains his enthusiasm as he showed when landing the Nessco Telecoms Handicap for trainer David Nicholl and jockey son Adrian.
Bred by Jean Keegan, wife of former footballer and England manager Kevin Keegan, the eight-year-old was successful in the big Ayr sprint in 2002 & 2004.
SOPHIE DOYLE rode her first winner at the 'Goodwood of the North' when Rudry World came home a two and a half length scorer in the Mecca Bingo Handicap, Hamilton Park's final evening race of 2007.
"This is the sixth time I've ridden Rudry World and I won three times been second twice and third on the other occasion," said Miss Doyle, who is still a 7lb claimer.

FINE weather saw 200 ladies put on a magnificent show for the Fashion competition on a well-attended Ladies Night card. First prize of a trip to New York for two went to Ana Borisenko from St Petersburg, who is currently enjoying a break with friends in Bothwell. Janice Louden won second prize of a diamond necklace while Karen Denholm earned a nights stay and dinner for two at the Holiday Inn in Glasgow for coming second.
The difficult task of judging went to to Martin Fry of ABC, who were performing an after-racing concert, and Clyde 1 presenter Suzie MaGuire.
TAURIAN produced a game effort under top-weight to land the Fresh 'N' Lo Nursery for Linda Stubbs. The Malton raider held on by a neck from Lady Benjamin.
"He wasn't quite right at Salisbury last time and maybe had a little too much use made of him," said Bill Stubbs representing his wife. "He's a decent little horse and I told the owners to have a few quid on as he'd been working so well I couldn't see him being beat."
TOM EAVES, successful on Taurian, was back in the winners' enclosure 30-minutes later after producing a nice effort on Ian Semple's Bold Indian in the Variety Club Claiming Stakes. The local raider isn't the easiest to get on with but he was coaxed to a half length success over Terry Molloy "That was down to Tom as it was a helluva ride," Semple said. "The horse wasn't interested but Tom made all the difference. The track probably didn't help and he's better on a turning course over seven or eight furlongs."
GREY FAIRLEY rode his final winner as a 3lb claimer on Mark Johnsotn's Greyfriars Abbey in the concluding La Bonne Auberge Handicap. The Hawick-born rookie officially 'lost' his allowance on Johnston's Campanologist at Sandown three days earlier and from now on will race against his weighing-room elders on level terms.

ON a card that dates back 60 years and signifies the first evening meeting of modern times in Britain, Knot In Wood won the feature race, the £35,000 John Smith's Scottish Stewards Cup.
Ridden by rising star and 22-year-old Irishman Jamie Moriarty, the Richard Fahey-trained gelding was always cantering before beating Protector by three-lengths. He now heads for the Stewards Cup at Goodwood under a 3lb penalty, which is a lot less than the handicapper will raise him after this romp!
AT an after-race auction conducted in pouring rain, dual Ayr Gold Cup hero Funfair Wane was retained without a bid after landing the No Nonsense Selling Stakes in the hands of Adrian Nicholls, riding for his father David.
Now an eight-year-old, the gelding was bred by Jean and Kevin Keegan and won the big Ayr dash in 2002 and 2004 with Adrian Nicholls aboard on the former occasion.

AS always the children's fancy dress competition was a great success and Tam Cowan and wife Liz had a difficult job choosing a winner from around 150 entries ranging from a dice, a prince, a princess, a police box and Pinocchio - the last two actually received second and third prizes respectively.
Kieran McGinnes scooped first prize dressed up as a bookmakers' pitch with horses on the side (at least we thought that's what he was meant to be because Kieran wasn't sure himself!) and thereby scooped a family trip to Euro Disney for a family of four. Kieran, 12, is a local lad from just along the road from the racecourse at Fairhill.
Stolen Glance was a popular winner of the Sunday Mail Handicap for veteran trainer Mick Easterby and jockey Paul Mulrennan. The filly is currently in foal to stable companion Gentleman's Deal, and like a lot of female horses, has shown much improved form whilst pregnant.
Her owner/breeder Pam Cockerill said: "She can run up until the end of August so hopefully she will win another race or two before then."

The Join WBX.COM For Just £150 Free Bets Amateur Handicap resulted in a first win for Gemma Hogg on Charlotte Vale and farewell ride from veteran Sarah Bosley, who was half a length away in second aboard Compton Dragon.
Gemma, 25, who works for winning trainer Micky Hammond said: "This was just my fourth ride and I'm thrilled. Micky was confident this mare would stay and my husband Tom, who is head lad to George Moore, was watching at home on tv."
Mrs Bosley, 44, was champion lady amateur in 2000 and 2004 and rode 46 winners during a career that also included scooping the prestigious Ladies Diamond race at Ascot's King George V1 meeting.
Winners are like buses - none for ages then several come along at once and that's what happened to trainer Julie Camacho who sent out Elkhorn to take the Ruthven Keenan Sprint Handicap under Tom Eaves.
The Malton trainer had ended a two-month lean spell with Rio Riva at Newcastle in the afternoon and Elkhorn completed a quick double.
"I've been tearing my hair out and my husband has been even worse!" she said. "The horses are running a lot better now which is quite a relief."
Seb Sanders, still well clear in the title race, enjoyed missed fortunes when picking up a one-day whip ban on unplaced Matty Tun but he ended the night on cheerier note aboard Jeremy Noseda-trained Gone Gold in the Atlas International Maiden Stakes.
The Newmarket trainer has now saddled five winners from his last eight runners at the Lanarkshire track which is a pretty impressive strike-rate over the past five seasons in anybody's language.
Mark Johnston is well clear in the number of winners recorded in recent times here and he chipped in with another when Joe Fanning brought Red And White home in the European Breeders Fund Maiden Stakes.
"She should stay further and doesn't necessarily need ground this soft,"
said Johnston, half of whose total of winners at the track have been supplied by his two-year-olds.

Having adopted the scatter-gun approach with seven runners, Mark Brisbourne hit the bullseye with Ignition in the Turftv Fillies Handicap.
Paul Hanagan brought the Shropshire raider home two and a half lengths clear of well-backed favourite Mystical Air.
"She won three race in 2005 but threw a big splint last year and was never herself," Brisbourne said. "This is the softest ground she has ever raced on and we brought her up on the day today - she came overnight last time and she is a highly-strung filly. She was home-bred by Michael Hyman who also owned that good sprinter Absolution."
Mark Johnston took his juvenile strike-rate to 30 per cent when Gin Genereux made all for Greg Fairley in the Lanarkshire Chamber of Commerce Maiden Auction Stakes. Despite drifting right once coming under pressure inside the final furlong, the Kingsley House youngster held off Brixworth Scribe by three parts of a length.
"He's been keen and not getting home," Fairley said. "We tried him in a new spoon bit today and he was just edging right as he got tired."
Surprise Pension was nicely backed (28's to 12's) before scrambling home by a head from Shandelight in the Turftv Betting Shop Handicap for John Quinn and Graham Gibbons.
Phil McEintee, due to appeal against the 12 month suspension of his licence later this year, saddled his first winner at the Lanarkshire track when Luke Morris -ridden Thoughtsofstardom nailed Luloah late on in the Ladies Night At Hamilton Park Claiming Stakes.
Eoghan O'Neill is another trainer with a good record here and he took the Scottish Racing Median Auction Maiden Stakes with Go But Go. Chris Catlin drove the Toubboug gelding past Four Miricles to win by one and a half lengths.
"This was only the second run of his life and he's entitled to improve,"
O'Neill said. "He should be progressive as he wasn't forward enough to run last year. He was fourth to Jalil on his debut at Ripon and I'm sure that Sheikh Mohammed is delighted we have boasted the form of his expensive purchase!"

The 42nd annual Saints and Sinners charity night was blessed by dry weather, if a little cold, but that didn't stop racegoers turning out in all their finery. Flowerscene provided 2,000 carnations which were strangely split 1,200-800 in favour of the red ones!
Miss Scotland, locally born Nicola McLean, added even glamour to proceedings and she was ably assisted former Scotland rugby hero Gavin Hastings in presenting prizes for the best dressed awards. Nicola had never been racing at Hamilton Park before but said she will definitely be back!
A large majority of the crowd stayed behind for an after-racing performance from Jason Donovan, also a star of stage and screen and a recent contest of ITV's I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here.
With his fans going wild with delight, Jason was introduced onto the stage, situated on the far side of the track in front of the stands, by Clyde 1 presenter Suzie Maguire.
William Haggas, son-in-law of legendary jockey Lester Piggott, has a fine strike-rate at Hamilton Park and he recorded a double courtesy of Stargazer Jim and Stringsofmyheart with both Newmarket raiders ridden by underrated Paul Mulrennan.
Stargazer Jim made all in the Walter Scott Saints & Sinners Challenge Cup while Mulrennan produced the ride of the season to get reluctant Stringsofmyheart home in the Hudson Winning Ways Claiming Stakes
Amy Ryan, daughter of Hambleton trainer Kevin Ryan, rode the sixth winner of her career on Brut, who blitzed home from the front in the F & C Investments Amateur Riders' Handicap.
Amy, 17, said: "I thought the others cold go flat out but they left me alone in front. Brut's trainer David Barker just told me to ride the race as I found it and he's a legend."

Neil Callan, another jockey flying high in this season's championship, was in fine form and recorded a 25-1 treble on Riverside Dancer, Networker and Bronze Dancer.
Riverside Dancer took the Betrescue Antepostmag.com Claiming Stakes, Networker won the DM Hall Handicap (Qualifier for the Hamilton Park Series.
Final) while Bronze Dancer was successful in the Turf TV Betting Shop Service Handicap.
Lanarkshire owner Alistair Dinsmore has enjoyed many victories at his local track and he has a 50 per cent share in Lady Benjamin, a short-head winner of the Tartan Turf Tours Maiden Auction Stakes under Lee Enstone.
Alistair owns the filly in company with Geoffrey Lampard who is having his first involvement in racing.
Sir Mark Prescott has been saddling winners at Hamilton Park for many years and the Newmarket trainer struck yet again, this time with Copernican in the Rectangle Group Handicap.
The 13-8 favourite was ridden by Heath House stable jockey Seb Sanders, who, at the time of writing, is leading the race for the 2008 Flat Jockeys Championship.
Scots owner Matt Sawers admitted he won nearly £40,000 in bets after his green and white silks were carried to victory by Gunfighter in the Sam Collingwood-Cameron Handicap.
The Machiavellian colt, who cost 100,000gns as a yearling, changed hands as a three-year-old last season for a mere 2,800gns and recouped that outlay with interest after this first career success.

Images of William Wallace and Robert the Bruce came flooding back as actors in 13th century battle dress mixed with the crowd on Braveheart Night. Various weapons of the time were also on display including a fearsome-looking sword.
The McGrattan Piling Braveheart Stakes Handicap (Listed) went to Scriptwriter, trained for the powerful Godolphin operation by Saeed Bin Suroor. In a thrilling finish to the mile and a half contest, Kerrin McEvoy got his mount up in the shadow of the post to pip Camrose by a short-head. Earlier the jockey from Streaky Bay in Australia had ridden his first winner at Hamilton Park when Nans Joy ran out an easy scorer in the Luddon Construction Maiden Stakes. McEvoy said: "This was one of the first courses I rode at when coming over to the UK a few years ago and its great to have my first winners here. I was particularly pleased with Scriptwriter as he used to hang but I think he grew up a little tonight."
The most valuable prize of the evening was the Glasgow Stakes (Listed) which saw a disappointing turn-out of just four horses competing for the near £20,000 first prize. Joe Fanning produced a fine front-running ride on Mark Johnston's Halling colt Boscobel, who quickened clear in fine style to trounce Dansant by six-lengths. Johnston said: "I only took him out of the Derby on the morning of this race but there will be plenty of other options open to him this season."
Arguably the performance of the night came from Aayhayson, an all-the-way winner under the welter-burden of 9st 13lb in the William Wallace Handicap. Trained by Karl Burke and ridden by Pat Cosgrave, he had scored in conditions stakes company over course and distance just seven days earlier.

Despite a forecast of heavy showers a crowd of over 5,500 attended Cancer Research UK Family Day when over £10,000 was raised for a very worthy cause.
There was a great cheer when four jockeys, Peter Buchannan, Jerry Supple, Mark Bradburne and Andrew Elliot took part in the Kilt Dash over the final half furlong of the famous Hamilton Park home straight.
The horse that stole the show wasn’t even racing - it was of course Collier Hill who paraded in front of his many admirers before the race named in his honour.
Collier Hill has won 15 of his 45 starts and earned £2.5million which is a record for a British-trained gelding and he has been successful twice from four visits to Hamilton Park including when landing the 2004 Braveheart Stakes.
His trainer Alan Swinbank said: “He’ll hopefully be back in action for an autumn campaign that will include another crack at the Irish Ledger and the Canadian International.”
The Sunday Mail Annual Jump Jockeys Handicap is always a popular attraction and this year’s maximum field of 18 featured two Grand National-winning riders and several with Cheltenham Festivals victories under their belts.
In the end success went to an Aintree hero in Graham Lee who steered Just Lille home for Yorkshire trainer Ann Duffield, whose husband George won this contest three years ago.
Lee said: “It’s my very first winner on the Flat but, if I’m honest, it’s not the same buzz as winning a three-mile chase!”
Ian Semple saddled ten winners at the Lanarkshire track last year and the local trainer opened his account for 2007 when Patavian completed a double for Tom Eaves in the Racing Post Median Auction Maiden Stakes.
Carluke-based Semple was said to be busy painting at his stables but plenty of racegoers had obviously backed his 3-1 scorer as the gelding was led back in to great applause.
